The Bureau of Secondary Education Curriculum Development Division (BSE-CDD) has refined the Secondary Education Curriculum (SEC) using the Concept-Process Model. The Refined Secondary Education Curriculum is the new curriculum standards set by the Department of Education. It aims to upgrade the mastery of content as well as set high expectations for students' learning.

Certain changes have been integrated in the new curriculum which the department found to be very crucial and significant to be included in the process of teaching and learning.

One of the refinements made is for the teachers to set clear objectives as well as become clear in the whole process of teaching. The curriculum will then allow teachers to value more on what the students should know and learn at a particular lesson.

Another integration made is the principle of multiple intelligence now being applied by the teacher in teaching the class.

Value formation, specifically passion for work, is also integrated into the new secondary curriculum. As young as elementary or high school, students will already be exposed on technology and livelihood lessons and activities.

Pilot testing for the new curriculum begun in school year 2006-2007, under DepEd Order No. 30, s. 2006. These twenty-three schools were identified for the pilot test of the refined SEC:

2. Mangaldan NHS for Region I
3. Isabela NHS for Region II
4. Angeles City National Trade School for Region III
5. Quezon NHS for Region IV-A
6. Jose J. Leido Memorial NHS for Region IV-B
7. Tobacco NHS for Region V
8. Masbate National Comprehensive HS for Region V
9. Ramon Magsaysay HS, Q.C. for NCR
10. Makati High School for NCR
11. Pines City HS for CAR
12. Nueva Valencia NHS for Region VI
13. Sta. Barbara National Comprehensive HS for Region VI
14. Dr. Cecilio G. Putong NHS (Bohol NHS) for Region VII
15. Cebu Science HS for Region VII
16. Leyte Agro-Industrial School for Region VIII
17. Ayala NHS for Region IX
18. Valencia NHS for Region X
19. Digos City NHS for Region XI
20. Daniel Aguinaldo NHS for Region XI
21. New Society NHS for Region XII
22. Pigcayawan NHS for Region XII
23. Surigao City NHS for CARAGA

From my high school days til now, I think it has been more than 5 secondary curriculum already.
And, high students now are even worse than us before.
