The changing nature of libraries
Where would you find a library where students go to eat?

Quote:After classes at Northwood High, students pile into the library. Some come to read, study or research. But a lot of teens are there to eat.

Even video games and films are OK:

Quote:On Tuesday afternoons ... [s]tudents can buy food, watch videos and use computers to play video games.

All in the hope that they might get interested in reading:

Quote:"We have an expression in New York," Brennan said, referring to his home town. "If you hang around the barbershop long enough, you are going to get a haircut."

well your hair grows long eventually..

unfortunately for those kids, their passion for reading will never grow, given that those movies, videogames etc will most usually grab their full attention

Right, because reading requires the patience to understand the written words. When you read something, it takes time to piece the story or get a grip on the subject matter.
