The Women and Gender Institute (WAGI) of Miriam College will hold a special training on Summer Institute on Migration (SIM) on May 11-15, 2009.

The course aims to provide a critical overview of the migration process, dynamics, issues and challenges. The training will utilize an interdisciplinary approach and will focus on migration, globalization and development; gender analysis of migration; human rights and migration laws and policies on the economic dimensions of migration.

This is most useful for those in the forefront of migration issues; frontline government officials (including local government officials) concerned with migration, graduate students, NGO, media practitioners, and community leaders, among others.

The registration fee, which covers materials, lunch and snacks, is as follows:
* PHP 7,500.00 for professionals, academics and students residing in the Philippines
* USD 400.00 for international participants

The WAGI will also conduct training courses scheduled on the following dates:
* Gender Fair Education - April 27 - May 1, 2009
* International Women's Human Rights - May 4-9, 2009
* Summer Institute on Migration - May 11-15, 2009
