Special Education
Are there special education teachers here? I'm a student from the College of Education taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education Major in Special Education at the University of Sto. Tomas and I want to know, which do you prefer? To teach in a Private SPED School or to teach in a Public SPED School? Thank you very much Big Grin

yes, sir. There are some regular public schools who also offer special education. Like P. Gomez in Recto. Legarda Elementary School in Quintos, Sampaloc Mla. They offer Special Education there Smile

Some people want to teach in public schools that also offer special education. They only work half day and the salary is somehow satisfactory but sometimes the facilities are insufficient. There are also public schools where you will handle 15 special children in one class. The advantage in teaching in private sped schools, they have very satisfactory facilities but they would require you to work longer than when you work in public schools and when you have concerns, it is easy to talk to the people in charge of the school.

RE: Special Education
As i experienced when we're conducting our Student Teaching at Antipolo, even it's a public sped school, you can't think that it is a public because of well facilities that they have, but yes private sped schools provide a variety of things to help their sped teachers for their teaching. My cooperating said that parents with child in a private school have high expectations for their child rather than in a public. I see that DepEd also focus to build lots of sped school here in our country, if you read that magna carta for children with disabilities , you will see an article saying that for every school or institution they must accept CNS even they are going to inclusion type of education.
