Frequently Asked Questions about the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET FAQ)
Frequently Asked Questions about the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET FAQ)

If you have questions not addressed below, create a new thread. Corrections are welcome.

My TOR is marked "for employment purposes"/"for employment purposes only". Can I use it for PRC?
You should probably get a new TOR marked "for board examination purposes".

I'm a retaker. Do I need to resubmit my TOR, birth certificate, etc.?
Probably not. All you need to submit is evidence/proof of the previous examination taken: report of ratings, notice of admission, or official receipt. Also, you need to get a cedula (latest). For purposes of identification, bring an ID: student's, driver's license, SSS, etc. Reference: PRC Office Order No. 2011-150, dated May 9, 2011. More info

I'm a second-courser. How many units do I really need to take? 32? 30? 18?
18. That's 6 units in The Teaching Profession (3 units) and either Child and Adolescent Development (3 units) or Facilitating Learning (3 units). You also need 12 units in Methods and Strategies; these are usually subscribed under the course titles Principles of Learning, Assessment of Learning, Educational Technology and Development Reading.

The confusion is because of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) requiring that before a student could graduate with a Certificate Program in Education (CPE), he/she must have 30 units - the additional 12 units of experiential learning (practice teaching). But the government agency administering the teacher's licensure examination is the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC), and they're only interested in the 18 units. As long as you have them on your TOR, you should be allowed to take the LET. But then, your school would probably not issue you your TOR until you comply with the 30 units (after all, you are going to pay them). More info

I'm a second-courser. Which version of the LET will I take?
It depends on your first degree. Medicine-related courses (BSN, PT, OT, MedTech, Pharma) will take biological science. Nutrition/Dietician and Chemical Engineering will take physical science. All other engineering courses will take mathematics. Commerce/Business Administration/Computer Science/etc will take Business Technology (TLE). Social studies related degrees such as PolSci, Econ, and Tourism will take Social Science. Psychology and Guidance Counselling will take Values Education. See full list.

Can you give me a list of reviewer centers?
Here. Warning: Had not been updated for some time now.

Can you give me the addresses and phone numbers of PRC offices?
Here. Warning: Had not been updated for some time now.

How do I get my LET rating online?
How to get your LET rating online

Do you have a PRC walkthrough when applying?
Yes

How many exams would a LET Elementary taker take? 2 or 3?
2. The confusion is because for sometime prior to the September 2012 LET, SpEd and preschool specializations also had "majorship" exams. On June 25, 2012, the PRC issued Board Resolution No. 2012-10 which stated that the preschool and the Special Education (SPED) specializations form part of the pedagogical content of the Professional Education component, thus reducing the number of exams for the LET Elementary to two: General Education and Professional Education.

RE: Frequently Asked Questions about the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET FAQ)
Hi,

I'm a degree holder of BS Accountancy and planning to take CTP for me to take LET.

However, specialization for BSA is Social Studies, is there a way for me to have a Mathematics Specialization??

Thanks.

I am a new LET passer for the Elementary level. I am confused about what to do next. Please let me know the process. Should I go online or what should be my best option? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Have a great day.
