This statistics is a result of the study conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission(PRC) and the Commission on Higher Education(CHED), based on the average passing in the BOARD EXAMINATIONS OF ALL COURSES of all universities and colleges in the Philippines.This study is concluded every 10 years.

Some schools are even closed already. And a lot of newly opened.

I would tend to agree with JM. Indeed a year or two would make a difference; how much more eight years.

It's good to know though that USC is one of the top 20, even at that time.

I agree with the first 3 in the following ranking, but not with the rest of the ranking. The ranking does not account for research output, which is one of the most important criteria in ranking world universities.

In the latest THE-QS World University Rankings (2008), the best Philippine university is Ateneo de Manila University. The University of the Philippines comes only second.

Ok, but I did not use Google Scholar since it's unrealiable. I used ISI Web of Knowledge database, the basis in ranking world universities and in granting the UP International Publication Awards. I have access to this database in my current university. In the Philippines, I use Google Scholar then I just select the journals from the ISI journal master list.

These are the top 20 universities of CHED and PRC, re-ranked based on their all-time international research performance. I did not distinguish the different campuses of UP and De La Salle. UST publications include those from UST Hospital. This ranking is just based on international publication record.

1) UP = 2,552 international publications
2) DLSU = 371
3) UST = 239
4) Ateneo de Manila = 120
5) U San Carlos = 95
6) Silliman U = 44
7) MSU = 40
7) Xavier U = 23
8) Mapua = 12
9) Ateneo de Davao = 5
9) PLM = 1
10) SLU, Urios, PUP, Adamson, CMU, USP = 0
