Fresh Grad.. needs opinion. :)
I just finished my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, last March 2010.
I wasn't able to apply for the licensure exam. Will I still be okay if I apply for it next year or the year after that? Will I be punished by law if I practice my profession though I still don't have a license?

I'll appreciate your comments.

Thanks a lot!

Are you teaching in public or private school?

Basically, you need a teaching license to teach. It's as simple as you need a driver's license to drive. But, as useless in the Philippines, anything is possible.

Technically, you are violating the law.

But being prosecuted for violating the law and violating the law are two entirely different things Smile

As for my observations, you won't be punished. The only downside is that you won't be able to apply to public schools since their primary req. is to pass the board exam. Although private schools allow those who still don't have license to teach, still they make it a point that you should at least get your license asap.

Dont worry too much about it when ur in a private school. You are not alone.

If however you are in a public school, still dont worry too much. You, your principal and the one who signed the appointment are culpable. But since you are in the Philippines, it is less likely that you will be punished. The most they can do is to kick you out.

It is always good for you to have the license.

In SUCs however, this is not a requirement unless you teach in pre-service education department.
What most SUCs require is your MS or MA.

Peace
