RE: [ETC] Computer Education
I am a high school computer teacher who just recently finished my prof. ed units and will be taking the LET this september regarding this forum, well all i can say is that its very
"idunnohowtoexplainit" but its just sort of mind boggling to review "management stuff" when the fact is you're just into the ICT stuff,. admin nice site!!! I'm also "moodling" coz its great.

RE: [ETC] Computer Education
concerning the topic, Computer Education should not be a subject but should be integrated in all the subjects.
By the way, technology part of THE should not be a computer-only discussion. This is a common misconception in subject partition. This goes the same with PEHM, wherein PE is the only topic that would be taught because the teacher is a PE major graduate.

@hourglass2k4: Thanks for the compliment ( http://eduphil.org/showthread.php?tid=12...79#pid2379 ). As of now the forum is still new, and although we have had a lot of signups when I spammed Friendster accounts Smile only very few are actually participating.

Regarding "ICT integration", how do you exactly do that?

What are your existing practices regarding the integration?

Do you still have a specific period devoted to computer classes?

RE: [ETC] Computer Education
ICT integration is an integral part of our teachers' professional development and curriculum development we have some seminar workshops on how to integrate ICT into the different disciplines or subjects. Of course not all teachers will be persuaded to use this method since most of them got the so-called "techno-phobia" or most of them are "digital immigrants" but as the sole computer teacher of our school I am doing ways in order to work collaboratively with them and to cross the so-called digital divide with my fellow teachers... my computer curriculum is interdisciplinary by nature so it requires a lot of planning which is one of the most important thing teachers should've to consider.

RE: [ETC] Computer Education
So how does ICT integration occur in your school? Are students required to use computers in their non-computer classes? And how and in what way?

Our computer teacher (who is also a member of this forum, BTW) is also calling for such a move.
