Can your love for education be bought?
Can your love for education be bought?

I'm not talking about sacrificing your morals by being bribed or what. I just want to know from you guys your opinion about my current situation.

I used to work for a multinational corporation before I joined the school that my mother had setup some 15 years ago. I resigned from my work to start a business (together with some family members) but it didn't prosper and had to close within a year's time. When my mother asked me to join, I practically had no choice. I was surprised how it pulled me and my wife and how we loved making a positive impact on people's lives through the school. Yes it has its ups and downs but we considered it as a service not only to people but for the Lord as well - and we loved it. After 4 years down the road, the old company where I used to work now wants me back. No offer yet but I estimate they will give me 5 to 6 times more than what I am getting now plus benefits. FYI, the school has been struggling financially ever since but we've managed to pull through year in and year out.

I'm torn. Do I accept the offer to have a thicker wallet or do I go with what I have now? No guarantees for my future in the school but I know the potential is really up to us, the leaders, to make the most of what meager resources are available. If you ask me to be self-aware and stand apart from myself to give myself an advise, I'd stick it out with the school. But I want to hear what you guys think. Please enlighten me with your thoughts.

Thanks and God bless.

Teaching will never make you rich financially, but you will live a fulfilling life.
